As for my healthy living plan. I’m trying not to make my vacation put too much of a dent in it. I’m still running every morning and doing a few abdominal and back exercises whenever I can. I found a gym but really, who wants to go to a gym in the middle of the summer while in Europe (although it would be nice cause it’s really hot here and I could use as much air conditioning as I can get). I just want to experience as much as I can so we walk everywhere and I’ve learned to say no. Saying no to wine or those delicious pastries we had on the table for lunch is not easy. But I was full from lunch and don’t regret not having it. Saying no is just a habit. The first time it’s really hard. The second time it gets a bit easier but not as tough. The third time it’s really not that hard at all. I mean it’s not like I’m never going to have any pastries. I will but maybe one instead of one every day. Or (my family hasn’t said anything yet but they probably hate it when I do this) I ask for just one bite. This way I get my fix without having the whole thing.
Finally, there are the restaurants… I’m not a restaurant goer because I like to make my own food at home but given the circumstances we find ourselves eating out on a daily basis. I order salads and antipasti. Seafood is usually fresh and tasty so I try to keep it grilled with lots of greens and veggies. I’ve been keeping myself content with trying a bite of my kids’ pasta and pizza dishes. The food is excellent any way you have it so I guess I’m gonna have to worry about eating healthy when I get back.
Have a great vacation!!!
Thanks Mary. Hope you’re having a good summer
